1. Read an import alert within its evidence boundary
DITP reported on 24 June 2026 that 50 Thai food items had been notified as non-compliant in the UAE during 2024–2026. Thirty-five related to ethanol; other cases involved sulphur dioxide, drained weight, cadmium, microorganisms, preservatives, fat content and other parameters.
Fifty is a case count in that report—not a percentage of Thai exports, a durian-dessert statistic or proof that every lot from one producer has the same issue. Decisions must return to Product–Lot–Parameter–Authority–Date.
2. Why durian desserts require formula and time evidence
Durian desserts may differ in durian pulp, coconut milk, flour, sugar, processing aids, additives and packaging. Risk assessment must therefore follow the actual SKU; a result from another formula or an earlier version should not be borrowed without a change assessment.
DITP links some ethanol cases to natural fermentation during hot transport. That is a reason to validate shelf life and distribution conditions—not proof that every product will ferment or fail.
3. Dubai Import Compliance File: seven evidence layers

- Product Identity — name, SKU, formula version, pack size and manufacturing site
- Ingredient & Process Record — inputs, additives, control points and change history
- Label Master — factual copy, language, units, net quantity, dates, responsible parties and approved artwork
- Risk-based Test Plan — parameter, method, sample, laboratory, date and lot-linked disposition
- Shelf-life & Transport Evidence — storage conditions, time simulation and distribution monitoring
- Registration Record — reference, document version, status and importer/authority confirmation
- Consignment Release File — invoice, transport record, lot, tests, entry point, release status and corrective action
4. Registration is not release
Dubai Municipality lists Apply to Register and Assess a Food Item separately from Apply to Release Imported Food Consignments for Sale in Local Market. Registration evidence should therefore not be presented as the release status of a shipment or lot.
Conversely, one released consignment is not a certificate that every future lot will pass. A formula, label, manufacturer, document or transport change requires impact assessment and confirmation with the importer and relevant authority.
5. Data and claim boundaries
This article does not turn numerical limits quoted in the warning into a durian-dessert specification. Applicable limits depend on food category, the governing standard and the actual product; the importer and regulatory specialists must confirm current requirements before production and export.
